The Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) called on Nexus Innovations to replace its aging financial system, Microsoft Great Plains, with a modern, secure, and scalable solution.
This ambitious project aimed to optimize internal processes, strengthen data security, and improve integration between existing systems. Thanks to close collaboration and a tailored methodological approach, Nexus Innovations was able to deliver a solution that met the OIIQ’s expectations.
Business objectives
The OIIQ urgently needed to modernize its technological infrastructure. The Great Plains system, which was reaching the end of its life cycle and was no longer supported, posed a significant risk in terms of security and maintenance. The main objective was therefore to migrate to a robust cloud-based solution, while ensuring operational continuity and process improvement. The success of the project would be measured by the absence of functional regression, the stability of the new system, the efficiency of optimized processes, and an improved customer and employee experience (UX).
Proposed solution
Nexus Innovations implemented a solution based on Microsoft Business Central, a modern cloud ERP, accompanied by customized web services and automated flows via Power Automate. This architecture enables comprehensive financial management (general accounting, financial statements, taxes, profits, and losses) and seamless integration with other OIIQ systems, particularly those related to payments and registrations.
Distinctive features of the solution include:
- Business Central to replace Great Plains with greater flexibility and scalability.
- Web services to connect external systems and automate data exchanges.
- Power Automate to reduce manual tasks and improve efficiency.
- Enhanced security through specific access roles and tailored licenses.
Impact on the organization
The deployment of Business Central has enabled the OIIQ to:
- Reduce recurring and routine tasks.
- Improve data and access security.
- Optimize financial processes.
- Offer a better user experience with a modern and intuitive interface.
User feedback has been very positive: approximately 80 people are currently using the solution within the OIIQ. No functional setbacks have been observed, and several improvements have been noted.
Adoption of the solution
To ensure smooth adoption, Nexus Innovations has implemented:
- Ongoing training workshops, recorded for future reference.
- Ongoing support via Teams and regular meetings.
- A phased deployment strategy with milestones to facilitate change management.
- Close collaboration with the OIIQ IT team, recognized for its expertise and autonomy.
This approach enabled a gradual, well-managed transition and rapid adoption of the solution by
